Game 4 world series 2024
This series marked the twelfth World Series meeting between the Dodgers and Yankees and the first since 1981. It was also the thirteenth meeting between teams from New York City and Los Angeles for a major professional sports championship. This previously happened in four World Series (1963, 1977, 1978, 1981), three NBA Finals (1970, 1972, and 1973) and the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. Following the 2024 World Series, LA teams held a five to four advantage over New York City teams in terms of championship matchups between the two cities.
The two starters, Flaherty and Cole, kept the game scoreless through the first four innings. After Enrique Hernández hit a triple in the bottom of the fifth inning, he scored the game’s first run via a sacrifice fly by Will Smith. In the top of the sixth, Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run after a Juan Soto walk, giving the Yankees a 2–1 lead and knocking Flaherty out of the game. Cole was removed from the game after giving up a leadoff single to Teoscar Hernández in the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth, Shohei Ohtani hit a ball off the top of the outfield wall and reached second base, but Juan Soto’s throw got away from second baseman Gleyber Torres, and Ohtani advanced to third base. The next batter, Mookie Betts, hit a sacrifice fly to score Ohtani and tie the game.
Volpe’s go-ahead grand slam off Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson in the third inning of Game 4 on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium was precisely the spark his Yanks needed to pull themselves off the mat in this matchup. It sparked a runaway 11-4 victory for the New Yorkers, who, while still trailing three games to one, have ace Gerrit Cole going at home in Game 5 on Wednesday and therefore still have a chance to make this a legit series.
But as we saw in Game 1, the Dodgers don’t die easily. Catcher Will Smith smacked a leadoff homer off Gil in the fifth, then Tommy Edman drew a walk. The Yankees went to their ‘pen, with ground-ball lefty Tim Hill summoned. The Dodgers put runners on the corners with one out and Freeman up to bat. Hill got the ground ball he wanted, but second baseman Torres’ toss to Volpe at the second-base bag to try to start a potential double play was a little high, and though Volpe’s subsequent throw to first was initially ruled to have beaten Freeman to the bag for the inning-ending DP, a replay review overturned it.
Yankees: The eighth-inning rally in Game 4 was significant because it saved Luke Weaver (21 pitches) from having to return to the mound for the ninth, keeping him available for Game 5. Other relievers to appear in Game 4 were Tim Hill (five pitches), Clay Holmes (13 pitches), Mark Leiter Jr. (18 pitches) and Tim Mayza (15 pitches).

PlatinumGames Inc. is a Japanese video game developer that was founded in October 2007 as result of a merger between two companies, Seeds Inc. and Odd Inc. Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya founded Seeds Inc. after the closure of Capcom’s Clover Studio, while Odd Inc. was founded by Tatsuya Minami. A year after the studio was founded, video game publisher Sega announced that it would be publishing four intellectual properties developed by the company: MadWorld, Infinite Space, Bayonetta, and Vanquish. Their partnership later extended to include Anarchy Reigns. Most of these games were met with positive reception. Over the years, PlatinumGames had developed an expertise in action games and one of their key philosophies was that the team would not follow conventional game design concepts.
Jack snapped back to reality and continued his work in Valenda. Suddenly, he was ambushed by a group of androids, called Gargoyles. Luckily, Jack was able to fend them off on his own. Amala says that someone with a lot of money might trying hard to kill him. While he was searching for Max, Jack encountered the Baron again. Irritated by the Baron’s presence, Jack decided to leave until he, Mathilda, and the Baron were attacked by a Kraken. The Baron was frustrated of how they had to deal with something that large with large tentacles, but Jack claims that it was jealousy talking, but the Baron refused and said that “he don’t need no damn tentacles!” Mathilda laughed at his exclamation and Jack told them to focus on killing the beast before they get killed themselves. After a while, the Kraken tried to ram into the ship they were on and sink them into the ocean. Jack noticed the excavator behind it and the Baron and Mathilda headed there using the large, powerful fans to give them a boost to reach it while Jack, as a decoy, dealt with the Kraken by himself. After wounding it, The Baron and Mathilda activated the escavator and killed the monstrosity once and for all. After the battle, The Baron and Mathilda went back to their own work while Jack went back to his. Somehow, Leo and Jack crossed paths and Jack asked Leo why the Bureau wants to kill Max, believing that the “Milvallen types” cared about due process and thinks that Leo was the only one trying to bring him back alive, but Leo denied that and said he was “following his orders.” They both walked away until Leo asked why Jack was after Max because of how the Bureau didn’t put a price on his head. However, Jack didn’t answer Leo’s question since he didn’t answer Jack’s question. He challenged Leo to a fight, in which Leo accepted. From the distance, Max was stood back and watched them duke it out.
PlatinumGames was founded by the merger of Seeds Inc. and Odd Inc. in October 2007. Seeds Inc. had been founded by Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya on August 1, 2006. Prior to establishing the company, the three worked for Capcom, and were key members of the Osaka-based Clover Studio, which specialized in making new and creative intellectual properties. They worked closely together developing popular Capcom franchises including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Ōkami. Most of these titles received critical acclaim, but under-performed commercially, leading to Capcom’s decision to close the studio. Prior to the closure, the three founders had already left the studio to form their own company in mid-2006. In January 2006, the company expanded to 51 employees, including more former Capcom employees such as Masami Ueda, composer for the early Resident Evil games, and Mari Shimazaki, Ōkami’s artist. Yusuke Hashimoto and Kenji Saito, who would eventually become PlatinumGames’ directors, joined during its establishment period. The new company revealed its existence by launching its website in February 2007.
The company had not revealed anything about upcoming projects for a year, until 2008, when Sega announced that it would be publishing four PlatinumGames’ titles. According to Minami, the titles were unique and creative, and it was courageous of Sega to publish these risky titles. Minami added further that the partnership with Sega allowed them to bring these titles to Western markets. The four games included MadWorld, Infinite Space, Bayonetta and Vanquish. Each was released in 2009. All the intellectual properties created by PlatinumGames as part of the partnership are owned by Sega.

Most levels are open environments, allowing the player to explore them freely, although some sections of the level may require the player to earn a number of points before it will be accessible. A few levels feature motorcycle-based combat where the main character, Jack, is assaulted by foes as they race down a track or in a small arena. The player is challenged to beat the level’s boss within a time limit, but in order to activate the boss fight, the player must accumulate enough points by defeating regular foes on the level.
