I am not a digital gamer—not at all. Apart from my tenuous excitement to explore and review Everdell Digital and a very, very brief flirtation with the mobile version of Sagrada, I can’t say my aversion has wavered. Give me the cardboard any day.
Even when a game is finished and published, it’s not easy to stop working on the design. I’m really happy to have the opportunity to look back at some ideas and explore the Small World universe even more deeply with Small World Underground.

There is a lot of player interaction in the game, because the map all of you are trying to conquer is very small indeed. Hence the name of the game. It means that you can’t avoid knocking out other players’ tokens. However, as everyone has to do this, it doesn’t feel quite as brutal as it might seem. In fact, it does allow two or more players to work together and try and stop the player who is in the lead.

• Freeman has 10 RBIs this series, passing Gil Hodges (1956) and Duke Snider (1952) for most RBIs in a World Series in Dodgers history (RBI official since 1920). After missing the postseason in 2023, the New York Yankees traded for star outfielder Juan Soto to help bolster their lineup.
